holy balls its cold!!!!

that's right i said it and i am not going to take it back. my car resembles that of a iceberg on wheels and seating for 5, 4 comfortably. and coats, i guess i need to get one that was made in the last 30 years cause the one i have had for a few years now seems to be slacking on the job.

with that said i am glad to be done with school. i am still checking several times a day for my final grades to confirm that yes indeed i am done with s-c-h-o-o-l!!!! only one class has posted final grades so far, but i turned everything that was due and took all the tests in the other two so if i don't "pass" these classes i am going to riot worse then those of the gaza strip or that of tiananmen square starting in the streets of the sojo and moving onward and upward to the university of Utah campus. a one man riot, our (my) numbers may be few, but our (my) passion is strong!!!!

so now i am all done and really it hasn't quite hit me yet. i am still working at slutty old Taylor Bean and Whitaker supposedly saving peoples homes, however each and every day i get called a variety of expletive deleted names that would make Paul wash each and every persons mouth out with a bar or nine of soap. once i get my diploma i plan on applying to news stations around the valley and actually looking into grad schools. since i am still livin' the bachelors life the tax man has been doing worse things to me, then grimace himself could to the helpless victims of maceys grocery store on a cold winters day. simply put grad school is incredi-expensive. maybe i will just work the streets and see how that turns out....

Best of 2008

1- Bon Iver- For Emma

Man vs the Wisconsin Wilderness = Perfection. This CD was recorded by one man in a cabin in the Wisconsin wilderness and it doesn't have the best audio quality out there but the melodies and lyrics definitely make up for it. This guy is really talented, give it a few listens and you'll agree I knows it.

2- Vampire Weekend – S/T

This is the feel good hipster release of the year. Its structure is so simple that it makes little sense that they would be so popular to indie music fans. You cant help but sing to each song on this release. Simply put I heart this CD.

3- Pompeii- Nothing Happens For A Reason

I was turned onto these guys from my friend Bryce, this is the bands second release and picks up right where Assembly leaves off. Highly recommend for an easy listening period where time doesn't matter. They would fit in somewhere between the sound of The Album Leaf with the vocals of Ben Gibbard. The songs will get caught in your head where you will want to keep them for hours.

4- Sleepercar – West Texas

This is Jim Ward of Sparta's side project that is amazing. I listen to this a lot because its got that Alt-Country vibe but overall is just rockin'. I would say this is the Cassion Sounds of Salvation (my personal favorite of 2007 ) release for this year. I can't begin the CD without playing it all the way through. Also these guys are the opening act for Coldplay this winter.

5- Moving Mountains – Pneuma

"You don't make a CD like this and not expect to get noticed" is my favorite description of this CD. These guys have made something special that fits somewhere in between the vein of Appleseed Cast and Brand New. This post hardcore band from upstate New York is going to explode onto the scene.

6- Conor Oberst – S/T

As a Bright Eyes fan and pretty much anything Conor releases or has influence on I must say that I love this CD. That's right I said it and I will shout it from the roof tops if needs be. It picks up right where Cassadaga left off just without his fellow band mates.

7- Paper Mache – Easier To Lose

These guys are going to be huge. The band hails from Washington and is currently touring the country relentlessly. I saw them when my friends band opened for these guys in June. They have softer melodies and some harder ones as well. The writing talent of their lead singer is far beyond his age. Listen, Listen, Listen!!!!

8- Lydia – Illuminate

This band started the year out on a small label but as since caught the ear of the major labels and within a few months following this release they have made the jump. Coming from Arizona this bands sound is best described as Jimmy Eat World (circa Clarity) meets Straylight Run.

9- Fleet Foxes – S/T

If this list was based on the best smelling band, I think this band would take the cake. This first full length ranks up there, #9 on this list because I still haven't given it the full listening chance it deserves however it is amazing. At points it reminds me of the world waking up in spring time right as the unthawing of the Earth happens. If you get a chance to see these guys live don't let it pass you by.

10- Okkervil River – Stand Ins

I love this band. Although I didn't discover them until this year, they have quickly taken up a large space in my all time favorites. This is the second part of last years Stage Names. Because I love Stage Names so much I haven't given this release as much of the focus it deserves. Give me a few months and I am sure this will rise on this list.

Honorable Mentions

11- Poetica - Liberation: The Catalyst

These guys were amazing. A local band here in the SLC these guys made something remarkable for a first release. They created a unique sound that goes along side Glassjaw, some Minus the Bear influence, and bad ass rock and roll. Catchy drum riffs, and amazingly layered guitars set this group far apart from others in the local scene. They remain close friends of mine, if you can find a copy of the EP make sure to buy it.

12- Northstar - Broken Parachutte

The reason this didn't make the top 10 is because its a EP. I love this release as it is the final chapter of unreleased songs, and demos to a very gifted band. Some of the classics have been redone by Nick Torres to sound less angst and more alt-country. I miss these guys so much, thank God we have Cassino.

Favorite Releases from 2007 that have been discovered this year

1- Manchester Orchestra - I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child

These guys are my favorite new band for the past 11 months. I got this CD at the end of last year and didn't really give it a listen until the start of this year. The song structure and lyrics are so well written that it has become in my top five releases of all time. I cant get enough of what these guys make. Lead singer / songwriter Andy Hull's side project Right Away Great Captain sheds a softer side to the enigma known as Manchester Orchestra.

2- Four Year Strong - Rise Or Die Trying

This CD brings back what I thought was a dead genre. This four piece from Boston has brought back pop-punk with a twist. This CD reminds me of the feeling I got the first time I heard the Self Titled by New Found Glory, or Blue Skies Broken Hearts.... by the Ataris. Don't be surprise when you check out this release and you find yourself singing out loud to each and every song. These guys take that nostalgic feeling that fans of the punk movement from yester-year have while doing it faster, stronger, harder; and who couldn't love a wizard riding a squid through space while fighting off steel sharks with laser beam eyes as the artwork for the album? My thoughts exactly.

just as i thought

its time to comment on the in state holy war that took place this past weekend. the match up i am speaking of is of course byu vs utah. now i know that byu was suppose to really give the utes a run for their money and put up a good game, which they did, for a half. then about mid way through the 3rd quarter its as if the wheat was separated from the tares the cream of the crop in the mountain west began to separate from its competition . utah out played, out hustled byu and showed that they are indeed the better team and the best in the mountain west. its b.c.s. bound once again for the 12-0 team the second time in just four years. they deserve it and its a shame that the bigger universities and conferences have a complex that these smaller schools cant possibly compete for a national title. i personally think that
1- they are scared of the humiliation that it will be to loose to a lesser conference with the national title on the line.

and

2- they are the most greedy s.o.b.'s next to the ceo's of these car companies and banks that are looking for government bail out money.

seriously utah deserves a shot for the national title, the second time in 4 years they have gone undefeated. they killed the big east team pitt four years ago proving that they can compete with anyone and i feel they will compete this year. go utes!

2012?

the republican party is already looking adamantly towards 2012. this is the message sent from the republican party meeting that took place this past weekend. what happened to all that talk of unity that john mccain and sarah palin preached as they campaigned? nice strategy coming from the right wingers here i have to say. how do they think that this country is going to come together acting like this. it humors me to think that they could have in some alternate universe won this election and be the people coming into power. how much better off would we be? i think this proves that we as a people made the better choice of the two candidates. and to bank on 2012 already and just pretty much give up on the status of america at our present time i think says a lot about these people. look the republican party is in dire need of repair and a whole different vision then what it has had for the past eight years and the platform it preached in this presidential election. these people do not appeal to the average american. you can be childish and have a mean mentality all you want, that doesn't mean that people will choose to follow.

a moment of a lifetime

last night i sat in front of the television and watched history be made. as Barack Obama was elected the 44Th president of the united states. i still don't think that the fullness of this event has hit me, i still cant really grasp my mind around it, it almost seems too surreal.

growing up in Utah i have to say sheltered me from a lot of the racial tension this nation has had for years and years and years before my existence. it has always been something that puzzled me even from a young age. i have always had the belief of accepting another person based upon who they are not the color of their skin or race. i was taught a strong lesson early on in life while playing at a friends house who was of Polynesian descent. his name was Michael and we were in the same second grade class. he lived with his grandparents at the time and while playing at his house one day he said, my grandpa doesn't like you. i was puzzled by this of course, why is that i asked. he said it was because of the color of my skin. i didn't know what he meant by it. how was i any different then my friend or anyone else. i asked my parents when i got home later that evening and the bubble that i had known began to be popped. i was gaining exposure to an issue that still baffles me to this day.

i mention this story because to me Obama is a great qualified person that i feel will lead this country into the direction it needs to be. many in our nation however need to have this bubble of superiority in race and thinking begin to be popped so that we as a country can move forward. what a great time to be alive. honestly this for our time is the amazement and realization that we as a country are ready for and deal with and conquer the issue of race. this event is something i know my kids and grand kids will ask me about years down the road. i am honored to have witnessed myself and participated in such a monumental election, and look forward to what the future holds.

free 99 this day only!!!!

on this here election day i think its great to announce that as long as you are a great american and do you part in the political process you can receive free items. now this seems like a great idea but then people argued that these companies are "buying" votes so this stuff is free 99 today and today only for all whether you voted or not. the items are as follows:

ben and jerry's - free scoop of ice cream
starbucks - free coffee
chick-fil-a - free chicken sandwhich
krispy kreme - free doughnut

its almost over!

so this past weekend i learned something valuable, don't discuss politics with some people. some people just don't have the common courtesy that you show to them when they are voicing their view's. they want to be heard and not listen. i had a nice discussion turned shouting match turned this isn't going anyway because you keep cutting me off, after i gave you the respect obviously that respect isn't mutual.
its weird to me how some things in life are so "personal" to people that they feel the need to act like children to defend them. i don't have a problem explaining myself and my views and why i feel a certain way. but some in this world simply shut down all healthy communication skills they may have and turn into a caged monster thinking the world is against them. its humorous quite frankly.
but i am glad this election year is almost over as of tomorrow it will be then time for the courts to settle out whatever they deem as unfair if needs be. also though i don't know what i will talk about for my weekly posts once the election has happened. i am sure that the president we have all grown to love over the past 8 years will provide me with something, in fact i know he will. thanks george w. bush!!!!

where to go?

so i got my voter registiration card in the mail today for where i am suppose to go to come nov 4th.
i am excited to vote. i am excited to be able to have the right to vote. its something that i always looked up to my parents for doing when i was younger and in the years since turning 18 i have voted with pride. we live in a amazing uniquely country that is based upon voting to make freedom possibly. i am grateful that i have been given this right.
something cool that found out about the other day is on google.com you know with the maps section how you can find anywhere on the map and in most major cities in the united states see the street view? well now they have a section where you can click and see where it is you are suppose to go to vote based upon where you live. i think this is a genius idea because it settles the confusion that prevents some who can vote from voting, and encourages those who dont register because they dont know where to go, to register. it takes away the complaining, nagging and bull shit that people use to stay in their homes instead of getting out and making a change in america

moral fiber

so McCain the man that the republican party has chosen to represent them for the presidency has hit an all time low. first off he hasn't kept in check the comments that are coming from his vice presidential candidate at these so called "rallies" going on in swing states for the election. the accusations that she is saying, in that Obama is a terrorist and associates with terrorists. no to mention that people at these rallies are shouting out obscenities that are being heard and not addressed as offensive, disillusioned and as being completely out of touch with reality. people in the crowd have been heard to be shouting racial remarks towards the other parties candidate, as well as things like "kill him". are you serious? in this day and age this sort of behavior is coming from grown adult people of the free world. is there really that many ignorant people out there that think this sort of shouting and behavior is acceptable. we are talking about voting for the president of the united states not Jerusalem circa 33 a.d. shouting these sort of statements in fact makes not only McCain, but those he associates with, "the people who attend these rallies" look like they are the aggressors and terrorists. you go to a Obama rally and you will find him talking about the facts and where he stands, not trying to focus his whole campaign on the fact that his opponent has associated with questionable people in his past. but i find it funny because don't you John McCain have a lot of skeletons in your closet too?
how i see it is like this, its the moral fiber of the candidate. this election is for the new leader of the free world. although we are going through some tough times right now and the economy is in shambles, there is a lot that this new president will have to handle. which of these two candidates is better suited to serve based on how they are acting? at the current moment this is not even a question McCain needs to grow up and talk about the issues at hand. put the muckraking aside, because frankly you look like a little kid and you expect me and millions of other Americans to vote for you so what, when you get into the white house you can wine and complain about other people. what is your stand on things? how are you going to change this country? because i cant tell you right now the diplomacy or lack there of that has gone on for the past 8 years is what got us into this mess. you claim you want to united the parties and bridge the great division between them. great way to start pal.......

those little code verification boxes

you know those little code verification boxes that they have on sites like amazon.com, and half.com to verify and secure the payment? well those are understandable for those sites but now they are on myspace and other websites like that. wtf? I hate these things. first off the are so "encrypted" that you cant read them most of the time. is it a 7 or a L with all the cool wiggling and whatnot i sometimes find myself type two or three times over just to post a lousy comment for someone to let them know something totally irrelevant or urgent. do we really need this type of security on something like a social networking site. don't get me wrong i know these sites are filled with creep-balls and lame people that like to promote the world of porn for their own sick reasons but for a simple comment they need to keep it simple. someone who is spamming these websites isn't going to take the amount of time it takes to figure out these enigmas let alone something that take two seconds to type in. its a waste of their time, and in order to try and create business for obscene sites to waste our time, they do not want to waste their valuable time. so keep it simple networking please i hate trying to figure these things out for something so simple as leaving a friend a comment.

win, lose, & or draw

so the debate between the two national presidential candidates is in the books and i call it a draw. i mean obama would win in overall presence and the way he conducted himself but he didn't deliver the knock out punch. McCain was way too stiff and seemed really unsure of himself for most of the debate. this weekend comes the vice president debate, which should be very interesting. a man who is way too outspoken versus a lady that rarely gets to talk without having McCain's approval. we have five weeks till the big election and i cant wait to see how this all shakes out.

yar!!!!!!!!!! it be smooth sailing ahead!

so i think i have it figured out why i have been stuck in traffic each and every morning for about a month and a half now. that's right, i was on my way to work even a little late from the time i usually leave so i was nervous about the traffic that would soon be surrounding me on my commute to work. however upon turning down the first street i felt like i was in a alternate universe. there were no cars, anywhere. where is everyone i thought? i continued down the road and pass the middle school in my neighborhood. the parking lot was as vacant as a grocery store parking lot on Sundays in Utah. then it occurred to me that my little sister had just had parent teacher conferences a few nights previous and they had today off. this has been the cause for all the traffic. these bratty little kids with way too overly protective parents that don't want johnny or Suzy to walk the block to two blocks to school because they are mommy and daddy's little angel's. come on the weather the last month has been fantastic and you shouldn't be babying your kids, teach them a lesson tell them to walk and you would probably be surprised at how well they will do on their own. don't get me wrong its going to take them sometime because most parents these days are not good parents, they are way to protective of their children that the child has a long tough hard road in life ahead of him or her due to the fact that you suck at being a parent and they will not have the skills needs to make that transition into a independent free adult who has a good work ethic. life doesn't always hand us things on a silver platter, in fact my parents stopped helping me out financially when i was in high school i was on my own to earn and have the things i wanted, and i thank them for teaching me from an early age the reason for hard work and establishing a good work ethic early.

anyways i just was happy that today my drive to work was smooth sailing. good day.

corporate america (venting from the working class)

here is the problem corporate America and i want you to hear me loud and clear. i am completely fed up with the run around you and the rest of the business executives give to those you pay to make your pathetic corporations make the move ahead. your cheesy grins and lies that seep from your well clinched jaws are beginning to fall on deaf ears. we are not all as stupid as you are hoping. some of us have a back bone and know how to use it. don't stare me down claiming that you have a open door policy and will take and answer any question head on, just to dodge the issue when a valid point on your mistake is brought to you. you want quality but you pay for quantity. those of us who bust our ass to see the bigger picture and make it happen get lost in the shuffle. the back door meetings you people concoct, where you sit in you comfortable offices with your emails that talk on us need to be made public. to me this is the cowards way of "dealing" or "handling" the issue. you know that you are in the wrong so deal with it the only way that you can. promote those who don't deserve one bit of recognition and show those who give their all and succeed the door telling them they just "don't fit in the corporations bigger plans" you make me sick you low life schmucks, and i am going to be call bull shit on this i am not going to be pushed around, and i most certainly wont be swept under the rug.

the way i see it the people in power right now are those that were part of the "change" movement that was so passionate in the 60's and 70's of America's youth. fight to change the world as you saw it the world your fathers handed down that suppress the dreamer and changed the inner person into cold numb feeling yes men. well look in the mirror. what do you see? to me you were nothing more then a poser then for the "cool" trends of the day and didn't really have any self worth or motivation to take and make a stand for what you believed in not just during those confusing times called youth but for the rest of your lives. and all these years later take a good hard look in the mirror and you will see a fake a complete and worthless fake that sold himself and herself short of what you were as a youth. you pathetic swine, you have no clue as to what those people at the core of the movement for change saw because you where nothing more then a person along for the ride as long as it benefited you.

consider yourself warned.

Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator

Andrew Ayrton, if you were born to Sarah Palin, your name would be:

Soup Landmine Palin

god bless her soul she is a wonderful mother, and her radical ideas and theology on the world's conditions or lack of international experience obviously make her my pick to lead this and all nations. world domination is just around the corner and my mom is leading the charge.

an indefinite hiatus

so here i am a huge fan of music and i found myself thinking the other day what is it with many bands that i listen to and consider myself a fan of, coming to the conclusion of a "indefinite hiatus" when the bands time has run its course.

what is an indefinite hiatus?

The Urban Dictionary defines indefinite hiatus as follows:

indefinite hiatus - when a band doesnt know when they are gonna get back together and perform or release another album

to me this says hey we will be right back, so sit tight. so then the waiting sets in. the days turn into months, months into years and still the band leaves me and all of its other fans with the impression that some day in the near future they are suddenly going to pop back onto the scene and everything is going to be A-OK. however we have to face the harsh reality that they've been lying to us all along and just didn't want to be "that" bad guy or band that is a bunch of assholes so they take the easy way out and just avoid the issue.

bands and record labels take heed, are we as fans too fragile to have you all just come clean with the masses with something as simple as we broke up? or say something like we are done, over with, through, hoping in any chance in us getting back together are less then zero. would this cause mass chaos and start the end of humanity? why is it that the truth is too tough to tell those that you, the band and label for that matter, need you to be honest to them the most? its a harsh reality i know, but i think most music listeners can take it, most are mature people and have dealt with the pains of the present not matching up with the future. people change, situations change, lets face it change is constant. most of us are exposed to this pain all through out our lives, whether its the divorce of parents at a early age, the loss of a job that we loved, or the ending of a relationship's and friendships whether because of our will or the will of others. things end we as humans can deal with this experience and whatever pain may come as a result of it, and from it grow stronger, while having a respect for the past as a learning experience. so please bands in the future, don't use the lightly treading words of we are currently on a "indefinite hiatus" unless, infact:

a- you as a band have decided to take a vaca to a distant island where modern communication is not possible.

or

b- the band has every intention on getting back together but you just need a break from touring, from music, from your band mates. --- at which point don't use some lame-o fluffy statement as indefinite hiatus but choose something simple like break, or time off.

to those that have chosen this route of indefinate hiatus i say consider the promise of what your fans consider you have made and come back, come back and ROCK like you did oh so long ago.
you know who you are!

who in their right mind????

Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.” - Sarah Palin Vice President Candidate for the Republican Party 2008

Thank you Sarah for this quote, now lets stop and think what you just said. You are saying that we are right and everyone else in the world is wrong. That God a Christian God that claims in the Bible is not a respecter of persons has now changed his biblical cannon and decided that yes America is MY country, and that the leaders who run it are MY representatives. That the missions our miliatry personal are given to execute from these corrupt people we have in washington are indeed MY wars which we will win hands down.

Are you kidding me? Seriously?

Look just because we put "In God We Trust" on our currency, and the people that founded this country were God fearing people that based its original founding morals on Christian and God-inspired values, doesn't mean that they still hold true in our present day. This is a different world we live in, and a lot has changed since 1776. For one, have you not stopped to think that these people who live over in the Middle East that we are fighting dont believe in God? Their version of God might just be a different extreme of the same God you are claiming has inspired our leaders to send our troops on this is called God send task. No from this statement i dont think you have, that couldn't be the same God, God wouldn't consider any other nation or people of this world his creation. Its only that superior America and that's it, am i wrong?

Now if you want to get technical about who's who among God's people, there Sarah then lets turn to that Biblical cannon that you so admittedly love, Gods people based upon this book here claims that his people are the Jew's. Shocking I know but it states it right there in the Old Testament the promise that God made with the Jews that they were, are and always will be his "chosen" people. Now I thought that God was a unchanging God, and certainly we are not all Jew's here in the country so it sorta makes me wonder what is going on here, how is it that you are able to claim something like this?

Enough sidetracking. Look this radical idea thinking person says something like this and we don't have Americans questioning the fact that she is running to be the next vice president of the United States? Is this was people actually believe that its us verus them, and God has decided to get himself a new team and forget about everyone else? Huh I guess my announcement of this monumentous event must have been lost in the mail.

Don't get me wrong I love America, I love this country, I love its values and its right and privileges that it ensures me as a person, and I understand that freedom comes with a price, there is going to be conflict, and struggles among people and nations, but to claim something this absurd that we have God sending our troops and not any other country doing so, is unbelievable.
My personal opinion is God has decided to stay out of situations like this because its going to cause more problems then its worth. Instead of taking the bullying approach we should be trying different efforts to work this out, it would be difficult i know but not impossible.

I think Bill Clinton said it right at the Democratic National Convention when he said, " People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power." Is what we are doing over in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan the Christian way, did Jesus ooh and awe people of his time by blowing up buildings and killing people saying it was a task from God? No, he didn't, he lead by example, he was humble in the way he went about things, and we don't need to flex our power on terror to try and scare people into our way of thinking. what problems do you think this is going to create years from now? Fear God but love your neighbor and please Mrs. Palin don't ever make some claim like this again without realizing that humanity as a whole was and is God's creation.

is somebody out there? can anyone hear me?

so why is it that every road in this valley seems to be lined with orange barrels cutting down the flow of traffic and causing me and everyone else to sit and wait. i could understand if this was a summer only thing but its not its, now drifting into fall and they will be greeting us as the holiday season rolls around i know. it seems like these construction agencies, tare up a road, get it all fixed just to do the same 2-3 months later. do the job right, do it well, and then lets talk in 4-5 years down the road. i don't think this is too much to ask really. i mean i realize that if they had the all curing payment mixture that lasted years and years then yeah they would be out of a job because you can only build so many roads, but think about the money that is being spent to supply the crappy materials that they are putting down every few months that are either:

a- torn up within just a few months because joe smoe forgot to put a end cap on the what-cha-ma-call-it when they were doing the work previous
or
b- the fine quality payment begins to crack and cause ginormous sink holes when winter rolls around. (some of them do swallow cars whole, trust me i know!)

lets face the harsh reality UDOT, whatever it is you are using is not quality made.
and another thing if they are going to fix the road get in, and get out don't take days upon days to dick around and do what ever it is they do. don't greet me stop sign guy after you have sat there and starred with your cool guy sun glasses for 5-10 minutes through your construction zone of dirt mounds. do you not realize that these are precious moments of my life that you are taking and i will never get back? not to mention the reprimanding you are guarantying i will receive from the boss who is now chapped that i am not on time? thank you and good day.

fake talk express

is it just me or does anyone else really hate listening to politicians stand up in front of large crowds and bold face lie through their teeth as too what they will and will not do should they take office? watching the democratic and republican national conventions over the last few weeks i have seen a lot of this. now its ridiculous to assume that each and every politician is going to follow through on each and every promise. i don't think that's happened since George Washington was in office, if it even happened then. but now a days and as i have gotten older i see more and more we are promised heaven by these people and given hell. taxes increase, the economy decreases, inflation is through the roof and hourly pay for a honest days work is put on the back burner to compensate.
once this reality of where our society as a whole is currently at and what we are moving towards is realized, the question we should then be asking ourselves is which of these two candidates is the lesser of the two evils? which is most like to be less of a idiot once he is in office? i mean we are stuck to choose between one or the other. we don't really have any other choice. i don't identify with these people they don't have my best interest in mind, but as a patriotic American it is my constitutional right to vote. and vote i must! or i could be like so Americans that don't vote and then bitch bitch bitch about whats wrong yet don't do anything to try and change it. voting i think through time shows change but not massive change all at once like these guys are promising.
November is going to be a tough month well the start at least. hopefully its not the debacle of 2000 nor the approval for a job poorly done as it was in 2004. they are promising us change, but will their honestly be any "change" and will it be for the better?
please check your facts people and vote with what is really going on. I highly recomend this website to do so.

adaweb!!!

This website is neat-o check it out http://www.adaweb.com/project/

This website confuses me. I don't know what to think about it because the screens confused me even more. As I toggled through the screen i became more and more lost as to a reference point where i should be at. The only button that assisted me with this was the back button everything else link wise just led me further into the chaos. Also the links on the pages didn't lead to the same point when using the back button and clicking again on the link.

The concept for it is unique for the web and websites that i have been too, so hats off to the site developer on that part. I am not sure if that is the effect they are going for but that's my impression. Also the site looks like its been up for 8-9 or even more years. So some of the icons and things are "outdated" for the modern day web but the message i think is better most sites out there.

Assignment #1

The world wide web otherwise known as the Internet is a powerful medium. It has developed at such a high pace year by year that things once considered in the realm of science fiction type thinking are now performed with ease in the confines of ones own home. This new type of communication that was first use by military to communicate over vast distances, now connects the everyday person with mankind across the world. Things such has HTML that once took great skill to master and perform the basic building blocks for the interface of the web page can now be performed by a regular person and one can make a simple entertaining web page in a matter of hours.

This method of communication revolutionized the way we in the modern world think, see, talk, and relate to each other. Is this a good thing? In many ways yes, with the Internet man can now know more about the world in which he and she lives and can stay in touch with loved ones a lot quicker even then say fifteen to thirty to even since the dawn of the modern man. Now he or she doesn't need to wait till it is reported on the nightly news, or read in the newspaper, he can find out as it happens. People have been able to learn about different parts of the world and universe that they would have not been able to otherwise in their entire lifetimes had it not been created. The sharing of thoughts and ideas amongst people has far surpassed the Renaissance of Europe, or the common places of Rome and Athens. Now instead of it taking days or even months to study and research topics for college thesis' or a career pursuit, man can readily access information within seconds.

In the same way though, with the use of good, this new found power has brought about bad things also. With almost little effort and time investment one can find how to make things that hurt people and destroy humanity. Things like guns, bombs, home made drugs, and the promotion of sex along with other unlawful activities, peoples lives become destroyed. Another way it is a bad thing is the more "tied" together the world has become, the quicker information's spread, the more negative aspects of human nature have come to the surface. For instance, during WWII and previous wars most Americans felt that the spreading of liberty was right at any cost. Why? they didn't know what that cost meant and looked like. Thousands upon thousands of people in the world died during this conflict, yet most claim it was the greatest generation to ever live in this country. Not more then twenty years later that same military and the leaders of this country where being ridiculed for the Vietnam war. Why? Because the images of what was really going on were being shown in the homes of Americans on the 6 o'clock evening news. Doubts and a change in at what cost is liberty to be spread began to occupy peoples thinking. The Internet is the same way. Or say for example someone reads something on the CNN web page, or any news source for that matter about a neighbor someone in their city, and this person has been accused of something horrendous. I say accused because its not fact nothing on the Internet is fact. This person then without rationalizing that this is the final outcome of the situation, acts upon his or her impulses to have justice on the situation with what they deem as an "acceptable punishment". What I am trying to say is that peoples lives get changed because of what is said about them, or what they read or see online and a lot of times its not for the betterment of them personally, or the society in which they live.
This new found power that we have a vast and its effects in the lives of most in the world is enormous. But at what cost?
